Empowering tenants at our Skills and Employment Event

On 21st August, we hosted our Skills and Employment event at Wycombe Museum, and what a day it was! From 11am to 2pm, tenants joined us for a relaxed, family-friendly afternoon packed with opportunities, conversations, and a few sweet treats.

Everyone who came along got a free ice cream and drinks token, and with face painting and games on offer, the little ones were kept busy while grown-ups explored what was on offer. It was the summer holidays after all!

We were joined by some brilliant partners – One Can TrustCommunity Impact BucksDWPBucks Adult Learning and Kaphera – who brought useful advice and support. One tenant, currently unable to work due to caring responsibilities, explored volunteering as a way to fill her time with something purposeful.

Another tenant shared her amazing journey with her Personal Success Plan (PSP) and our Aspiration Pot funding, which helped her pass her driving test - first time! She’s now aiming even higher:

“I’d like to look into the possibility of setting up another PSP to help me with my goal of joining the police force.”

We’re thrilled to say that four new PSPs were set up on the day, and a few more are in the pipeline. It’s fantastic to see tenants taking steps towards their goals.

The feedback was great too:

“The event has been great. It’s so family friendly!”

And another tenant told us:

“I’ve been in my Twenty11 home since May. It was really easy to sign up. The home visit I had at six weeks was really reassuring and I was able to get all of my questions answered. You don’t see other housing companies offering something like the Realising Potential Service so it’s amazing to be able to have the opportunity to use it.”

Our Operations Manager, Fran Hemsley, summed it up perfectly:

“It was fantastic to see some of our tenants come together at Wycombe Museum – whether they were exploring work and training opportunities, connecting with our partners, discussing goals with our Realising Potential Specialists or simply enjoying time with their families. The event was all about community, support, and making advice and opportunities easy to access in a relaxed setting. I’m proud of what we achieved together.”

We’re proud to have hosted an event that celebrated our tenants and helped them take real steps towards their future. Thanks to everyone who came along – we can’t wait to do it again!
