From the beginning of her tenancy last year, Michelle was keen to set up a Personal Success Plan with one of our CPSs and was dedicated to realising her potential. Michelle’s main goal was to get back into work and she knew that learning to drive would increase her opportunities and help to achieve this. Michelle and her CPS set up a manageable 6-month goal of passing her theory test and staring her driving lessons, this was to get her mobile and put her in an excellent position to find work.
Bella has a huge passion for music and dreamt of having an opportunity to explore this passion further with professional courses. She came to us to set up a Personal Success Plan and had a six-month goal to complete a DJ training course, along with a long-term lifelong goal of becoming a freelance DJ. We awarded her some Aspiration Pot funding which allowed her to complete a beginners DJ course. She loved it so much that she has decided to fund an intermediate and advance course herself to help her achieve her dream.
One of our tenants set up a Personal Success Plan with his Community Potential Specialist in September 2021 with the goal of trying to maintain his physical and mental wellbeing. He’d been finding it difficult to do this during the pandemic and was missing some social interactions and structure in his life.
Here at Twenty11, we have good links with local partners and set up a meeting with Age UK Buckinghamshire to discuss what opportunities could match his interests, and soon after our tenant attended his first introductory session.
Whilst already having a Personal Success Plan (PSP) in place to establish her own business, when faced with the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact it brought onto her business which relied on supply chains, Dot took the opportunity to reflect on her goals and ambitions. She considered how else she could channel her passions. Being a trained teacher and creative writer, Dot had already drafted some chapters of a children’s book beforehand. She decided that she could build on this and refocused her plan, and her goal, to become an ‘interactive story teller and children’s book author’.
Eva first spoke to her Community Potential Specialist about setting up a PSP during her six month visit. She had settled into her new home, and now that her daughter has grown up, she had aspirations of her own to get back into work – which she set as her goal. Having talked through her steps to get there with the Community Potential Specialist, she was soon talking to the Job Centre about how working would affect her benefits so she could plan and factor this in, as well as completing online skills checks on the National Careers website to help her think about where her skills might fit.
Jermaine is the son of one of our tenants. Both the tenant and Jermaine attended our virtual social event earlier this year, where we talked about our Realising Potential Approach and Jermaine requested a call with one of our Community Potential Specialists. Although still a young man himself, Jermaine is passionate about supporting young people in his community and giving back to the area that welcomed him and his family many years ago.
Lisa set up a Personal Success Plan (PSP) with one of our Community Potential Specialists, back in 2019. Her overall goal was to qualify as a family lawyer. In order to complete her law degree and qualify, Lisa needed a laptop to complete online modules, coursework and to study. She was finding it difficult sharing a device with her three young children with disabilities and felt she needed a device of her own in order to progress. Lisa worked with her Community Potential Specialist to ensure that she was following her PSP and maintaining regular contact to achieve her goal.
